Ding Gang, a native of Zhejiang, was born in 1953 in Shanghai. He is a tenured professor of East China Normal University, Zijiang Chair Professor, doctoral advisor, dean of the School of Education Science of East China Normal University, and a recipient of the State Council Special Allowance. Prof. Ding is also one of the conveners of the Review Group for the Discipline of Education of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, and convener of the Education Branch of the Expert Committee on the Management of Post-Doctors under the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. He is also a member of the review board of the National Office for Education Sciences Planning, secretary general of the Teacher Education Branch of China Association for Higher Education, and executive council member of the Pedagogy Chapter of the CSE.
Prof. Ding was the research director of many key research projects, such as “Research on the China’s Education Traditions in a Globalized Context”, “Innovation in Teacher Education in a Globalized Context”, “Research on the Status Quo and Policies of Teacher Education in China’s Basic Education”, and “IT and the Changes of Basic Education Teaching Methods”.
