Zhu Yongxin is a member of the standing committee of the National People’s Congress, vice president and secretary general of China Association for Promoting Democracy, vice chairman of the CSE, professor of Suzhou University, doctoral advisor, and the initiator of the new education experiment. Prof. Zhu majored in educational psychology and was a postdoctoral fellow. He was deputy mayor of Suzhou in charge of education.
It is said that he is the only mayor in China who studied education and took charge of education affairs.
Over the past two decades, he published some 400 papers in China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan and other countries. He also wrote several books.
In 2010, his microblog was awarded one of the “Ten Most Popular Microblogs”, and he was named “Inspiring Opinion Leader in Education” by Tencent Microblog. In 2009, he was named one of the “60 Important Figures in China’s 60 Years of Education” and “Educator of the Year (2009)”. He was awarded “Influential Educator of China’s 30 Years of Reform and Opening-up” in 2008 and was named one of “the 7th Top 10 News Personalities in China’s Reform” and “China’s Top 10 Economic Talents” in 2007. In 2006, he was named one of the “Top 10 Educators in China”. He was a candidate for the “Touching China” Award presented by China Central Television in 2005 and was named “Man of the Year who Cares for Public Welfare” by South Reviews in 2003.
