Li Xigui was born in 1959. A native of Shandong Province, he is the principal of Beijing National Day School. Mr. Li is a National Education Inspector and sits on the Expert Committee on National Basic Education Curriculum and Textbook. He is also the director of the National Center for Basic Education Quality Monitoring. He is the author of For the Free Spirits of Education, The Student Comes Second, 36 Days: My Education Journey in the U.S., The Student Comes First, and Ten Talks on a New School.
Mr. Li participated in the drafting of the Learning Outline of Education for All-round Development initiated by the Ministry of Education. He was a member of various education groups, including Ministry of Education’s Publicity Team for Progressive Educational Concepts, the Curriculum Standard Revision Committee for the Chinese Subject of Compulsory Education, the General Curriculum Standard Review Committee of Compulsory Education, and the Research and Drafting Committee of National Outline for Medium and Long-term Educational Reform and Development.
